Have Mercy!

Sunday, 08 June 2008

Speaker Name:  Pastor Jim Langley   |  Luke 17:11-19

Description:
We are blessed in so many ways by God. Often, when the storms are raging around us, it's difficult to see these blessings, but they're there if we look for them. And when we see them, it's our responsibility to stop and give thanks. Like the grateful leper, we must throw ourselves at Jesus' feet and offer thanksgiving to God. How has God blessed you? And have you given thanks?

The Silent Years: Looking at the Interestament Period
Sunday, 18 May 2008

Speaker Name:  Pastor Herb Isenberg   |  1 Maccabees 4:36-59
Series:  eleventh in Preaching Through the Bible
Description:
It is fairly difficult to cover approximately 400 years of history, which most people know nothing about. Four empires marched through and subsequently occupied Israel during those 400 years. The Hebrews were sent into exile and their holy places, and Jerusalem, burned to the ground. Without exception, such chaos changes the way a people understand their faith. It changes their culture and reorients almost everything they hold sacred. Such was the situation with the Hebrews. When Jesus is born in 4 BC the Jewish faith was much different than it was when the Old Testament historical narrative concluded. I hope this morning you can capture some of the significance of that change for the acceptance of Jesus and his message, and for the early church.

Strangers in a Strange Land

Sunday, 13 April 2008

Speaker Name:  Pastor Jim Langley   |  Acts 2:36-47

Description:
As God's people, our mission is to share the story of Jesus so the lives of others can be transformed by an encounter with the risen Christ. Our job is to invite others into the story. We do it by living out the model of being church that we find in the book of Acts. This is what the church today can and should be.

The Sermon of Your Life

Sunday, 06 April 2008

Speaker Name:  Pastor Jim Langley   |  Acts 2:14

Description:
Every Christian is called to preach a sermon with his or her life. It isn't one we hear, but one we see. It's a sermon we preach by how we live. If we do things that dishonor God, it preaches a sermon. If we do things that honor God, it preaches a sermon. The question is: what sermon will you preach?
