OUTREACH

Westminster Presbyterian Church has long served the Cedar Rapids community and beyond. Loaves & Fishes food pantry operates from the Tanager Place building just a few blocks from Westminster. Loaves & Fishes partners with Christ Episcopal Church, HACAP and volunteers that supply food, bags and fresh fruit and vegetables. Westminster also has a Prayer Shawl Ministry dating back more than 10 years. Their beautiful handiwork has been shipped as far away as Australia. All in need of the comfort of a prayer shawl are served. Members are involved in many other ministries, too, including helping to serve Summer Neighborhood Meals at St. Paul's Church across the street from Westminster. We're always looking for new opportunities to serve Christ. Our most recent mission project focused on the Miherati School in Kenya where one of our members, Veronica Ndungu, attended. Westminster raised funds for an elementary classroom, made and purchased clothing for the children, raised money for shoes, school uniforms and soccer balls. It was an all-out church effort.

LOAVES & FISHES

This food pantry is open each Tuesday from 3 to 5 p.m. in Westminster's mission house, adjacent to the church parking lot. Providing dignity and choices for our clients is a top priority of these volunteers.

PRAYER SHAWL

Westminster's Prayer Shawl Ministry has been carried out for more than 10 years.  Besides diligent handiwork on shawls and other crafts, you can usually find good coffee, treats and fellowship. Find out why they've had their work shipped as far away as Australia!

Each summer, Westminster volunteers take part in the Summer Neighborhood Meals program hosted at neighboring St. Paul's Methodist Church. Area churches help to provide volunteers to prepare food, serve and clean up.
